The book takes you outside of the "employee engagement box" and takes you on a journey through this founder's fascinating career path; how he discovered what worked and what DIDN'T work to engage employees; how he applied those lessons to create an engaged and productive team of his own -- and ultimately how he used those same lessons to develop a software solution that is as engaging as it is transformative for businesses.

I’ve owned a business and spent many years working in a cubicle. I have seen both sides of how a business operates. There are some good managers out there and a whole lot of bad ones. What really stands out for me with Tim’s book, is he addresses the corporate culture. This is the center of it! How can managers be better, how can employees be better? I wish I had this book when I was a business owner as I’ve had my own shortcomings. I would have been a better boss because of it. A must read for any manager or business owner.

It has been helpful in assessing work goals and what I need (or need to ask for) in order to stay engaged at work. Everyone can take something from this book.

Le « guide pratique de l'aquaponie » (de Grégory Biton) s'adresse aux débutants n'ayant aucune connaissance sur l'aquaponie. Sachez aussi qu'il ne permettra pas d'installer soit même une installation maison sans avoir besoin d'aller se renseigner sur internet ou de consulter d'autres ouvrages… Le livre est vraiment trop court à mon goût (140 pages environ).Étant moi-même néophyte en la matière, j'ai pu découvrir, de manière très générale les principes l'aquaponie au travers des 5 chapitres proposés par l'auteur : Les promesses et les évolutions de l'aquaponie un (27 pages), les interactions entre organismes vivants (25 pages), le matériel et son installation (32 pages), la gestion basique du système (32 pages) et enfin, un exemple de système très basique (en 10 pages, oui… 10 pages seulement !).Après la lecture de cet ouvrage, j'ai été assez frustré de voir que l'auteur perdait beaucoup de temps à répéter certaines évidences sur les deux premiers chapitres pour finir par survoler la dernière partie sur la création d'un système autonome (10 pages seulement ! ). Une vulgaire liste de matériel d'une page nous indique le matériel à acquérir sans trop de précisions quant au prix ou à sa mise en place… et c'est bien dommage ! Même chose pour les volumes des bacs… comment sont-ils calculés ? Nous ne le serons jamais...De la part d'un ingénieur de formation et de profession, je m'attendais à trouver un descriptif bien plus détaillé d'un modèle « de base » expliqué de A à Z ainsi que davantage de tableaux donnant, par exemple, les outils pour évaluer le volume nécessaire à une installation maison (volume du bac de culture, volume du bac à poissons, etc.). Mais rassurez-vous, l'auteur propose à l'achat le modèle survolé sur son site internet avec un peu plus d'explications… Pour l'auteur, il faut « essayer » de manière très hasardeuse, regarder et rectifier jusqu'à obtenir un système en symbiose. Un peu trop facile à mon goût...Du côté des photos et des explications, rien à signaler. Le travail est de qualité et les explications sont très claires… On reprochera certaines répétitions un peu lourdes (oui, l'aquaponie n'est pas encore arrivée en Europe, oui, l'aquaponie permet de produire sur une petite surface comme en ville, et oui, les salades doublent de volumes en quelques jours à peine…). Oui, mais je fais comment pour faire ça à la maison ? Un chapitre « pas à pas » avec la création d'une installation aurait été d'un grand secours et aurait fait de cet ouvrage un vrai manuel complet bien plus épais.

Il donne une première approche de l'aquaponie mais ne répond pas à toutes les questions qu'on peut se poser.Les principes généraux des installations sont bien expliqués, les diagrammes sont simples et très parlants. Globalement c'est un bon libre pratique sans être un bible de référence.Comme dans beaucoup de livres ou d'articles sur le sujet, on place l'aquaponie sous l'angle "jardinage". Les poissons sont abordés en détail pour une fois mais il manque toujours deux ou trois infos importantes (santé des poissons notamment (maladie, parasite…), sécurité alimentaire etc...)Le système DIY proposé à la fin est un peu léger à mon gout dans sa description etc... On trouve sur le net des installations décrites avec plus de détails. Cela dit il a l'intérêt d'être facilement reproductible et l'auteur le met là presque en OpenSource.Je le recommande cependant car:- il établit les bases importantes de l'aquaponie (cyclage de l'azote, design d'un système avec les pièges à éviter etc...)- bien écrit, bien illustré il aborde tous les sujets (meme si c'est parfois survolé)- pratique, orienté DIY, il ne "vend" rien.

Je cherchais depuis qql temps deja un ouvrage sur l'aquaponie. Profane, je naviguais et serpentais sur les sites et autres informations discordantes et touffues sur le sujet, dans un maelström d'avis et d'expériences à en perdre son latin. Et puis, et puis... jai découvert au hasard d'une énième recherche @, le livre de Gregory Biton. La providence pour un profil comme le mien : profane oui mais pas trop, bricoleur idem et surtout vite dépassé par la supposée complexité d'un systeme aquaponique. Après la lecture de cet ouvrage, je n'ai que du bon à dire a son auteur. C'est clair, c'est bien expliqué, ca rentre dans les details ( il faudra que je relise le chapitre sur la qualité des tubes) sans être élitiste, la structure du récit me parait logique et chronologique, le contenu me semble exhaustif. Franchement ca fait du bien par rapport à tous ces ouvrages pavés qui vous expliquent sur 20 pages des détails dont le novice se fiche. Ici ce nest pas le cas. Je me suis bien perdu une fois sur la partie chimie mais honnêtement c'est de ma faute ( il faudra que je la relise aussi). En tout cas bravo a l'auteur. Je mets 5 etoiles car c'est le livre que j'attendais. Attention car ce nest sûrement pas louvrage de référence pour les plus aguerris d'entre nous sur le sujet mais ca deviendra à n'en pas douter celui de référence pour tous les curieux et quelque peu ambitieux de systèmes aquaponiques.

Offert à mon mari, ce livre se révèle être un bon guide de départ pour l’aquaponie.Il a su répondre aux nombreuses questions de mon époux.Il perd une étoile parce que je l’aurais souhaité plus illustré ;-)
